Process

Day 1
January 20th, 2010

On day 1 we met up after school and planned our machine. We both showed each other our top 1 individual design. We decided to use Ayushi's design. We made it on the computer and printed it out.

Day 2
January 22nd, 2010

After haven showed Ms. Jewett our design, we had to change it. We changed the location of the lever and the point in which the lever and pulley connect. We aalso did that one on word and printed it out.

Day 3
January 23rd, 2010

Natacha went to her friend's house for lunch and he generously offered fulcrum and four pieces of wood.

Day 4
January 30th, 2010

We started building the machine. See 'materials' and find out more about how and with what we built the machine. It took about 4 hours to get the pieces of wood together with screws and attaching the fulcrum with super glue.

Day 5
Febuary 3rd, 2010

We used two empty tomato soup cans to hold the input and output weights. We had to make a hole at the bottom of each can. We put the string through the input can to attach it to the pulley. We screwed the output can onto the lever to make it fixed. Next we added one hook on the top of the machine, to allow the pulley to hang. We added another one on the lever to attach the pulley to the lever.

Day 6
Febuary 8th, 2010

We set the pulleys (block and tackle). We found out that the string was too thick and therefor we needed to change it with a thinner one. On that day we finished our machine.
